Sony FS700 Shoulder mount camera rig – Updated April 2013 Anyone who has ever used the FS700 would know that it’s not exactly blessed with great ergonomics out of the box, some people do like the way it’s designed but unfortunately, i’m not one of them. After only a few days shooting with this camera i couldn’t wait to find a way to use this camera in a way i’m a bit more used to and that’s shoulder mounted or semi-shoulder mounted. Shooting an interview handheld for 5-10 minutes really tested my ability to keep the camera firm and steady without...

The Glidecam HD4000 Camera Stabiliser System I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a camera stabiliser for ages now and today i’ve finally pulled the trigger and ordered one. I have a shoot coming up next week which involves a virtual tour of a house so it’s a great excuse to test it out while following someone around a house giving a piece to camera. Using the Metabones Speed Booster on the Sony FS700   Last week I took delivery on a new adaptor from Metabones – the Speed Booster. It’s a great new piece of kit that promises to bring new opportunities to shooting on APS-C (and soon to be micro four thirds) sized sensor cameras. More more info on how the speed booster works click here to view a post from last week. A few days ago, I went down to the coast in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs with Roman Mongin to shoot a few clips with the new adaptor and also a new lens i recently bought – the Rokinon 35mm T1.5. Roman...

Metabones Speed booster Canon to NEX adaptor…   I have been using A-mount lenses on the FS700 since I purchased the camera 3 months ago. The Sony alpha lenses work great with Lea-2 lens adaptor giving electronic support and quick autofocus with the E-mount camera. Owning a Sony a77 DSLR also allows me to use the same lenses on both cameras giving great freedom when using the DSLR as a second camera during interviews. There is a problem though with using Alpha lenses and this adaptor system… Hardly anyone uses A-mount lenses! Well I haven’t met many at least. This...

Giant Rubber Duck in Sydney!

Posted by on Jan 6, 2013 in Featured Articles | 0 comments

An afternoon filming a giant rubber duck in Sydney’s Darling Harbour.   One of the great things about being a cameraman is getting the opportunity to cover some unusual subjects on a day to day basis. Today being no exception whilst working for Dutch TV here in Sydney. Artist Florentin Hofman created this 25 meters tall by 25 meters wide floating rubber duck as his latest piece which is quickly acquiring a large stamp collection in it’s passport. Having already floated down the Loire River in France, under Tower Bridge in London and into the City of Osaka in...
